Question
i've been searching the net for an hour to find an answer to my question...do all cell phones have this chip installed...the FCC ruled that by 2006 they must-but your recent article says "most"...i have a virgin mobile tnt and it has the factory default for 911e, so i know its on...the location menu reads off but i'm unable to change it to on...not that i want it on...on e-how there's a page on how to remove it...can i do this on my phone and still have it work normally...please help...i'm scared

I'm not sure what article of mine you were reading because I don't recall ever having answered a specific question about this, but in 2006, the FCC ruled that all phones will need to have E911 but they had a period of time to do this which I think was by 2011 or 2012, but I can tell you that all cellphones have E911 ability. Some carriers were using triangulation to find someone which has always been around, but now all carriers use E911. You are totally fine with Virgin and you can't change the feature and really wouldn't want to and that's why it's not changeable. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
