Cellular Phones/Blackberry 7290 Roshan SIM Problem

Question
I am in Afghanistan and just purchased an unlocked T-Mobile Blackberry 7290. I tried a Roshan SIM card but it is telling me that it is an invalid SIM card.  Is there a way to get the phone to accept this kind of card, or is this type of Blackberry incompatable with Roshan SIM's?  If there is a way to make this work, please let me know.

Answer
This device is a quad band GSM device and there is no reason why it shouldn't work with a Roshan SIM card. I have a feeling that either (1) the radio antenna of the device is broken (this is a VERY old device, it came out in 2005) or (2) the SIM card is not active. If the device is truly unlocked, the SIM should work. I would recommend first making sure that the SIM works in another phone and then next see if you can get another SIM to work in the phone. If the SIM works in another phone, then obviously the SIM is good. If another SIM works in the BlackBerry, then the BlackBerry is good. If that's the case, then there shouldn't be an issue. But I have a feeling that the problem is either the SIM or the phone so the test I mentioned will at least isolate the problem. Let me know. Thanks. DebiN
