Cellular Phones/migrating sprint number to att

Question
Hi, it might be called porting too, not sure, but I am keeping my Sprint number and have taken with me to ATT service. I called Sprint to cancel service (which ATT rep said I needed to do within 14 days). Sprint rep tells me that I don't need to cancel, that it will automatically cancel when migration finishes. So now, I am carrying 2 phones. The ATT phone texts, the Sprint phone rings, it's crazy (funny!). I want to be sure to do the right thing and not mess anything up. Sprint rep told me if I canceled them now, my ATT phone would not work (for phone calls). What to do? Can you help?

Answer
The reason that you have the problem you do is because you need to now turn off both phones and then turn back on only the AT&T phone. Then, all your service will be on AT&T. They should have told you this at the store. You didn't mess anything up and what the Sprint rep told you was correct. You never cancel service, you port (move) your number to the new carrier.
