Cellular Phones/Hacked Sim Card

Question
Is is possible for someone to use my Sim card to access the internet without it ever leaving my phone?   Some background information: I got a Blackberry Torch in October 2010.  I have been told that I have enormous data useage.  One bill was $2400.  The next month on one day 1G of datat was used.  The cell phone company has now determined that it was not from my phone, but it was from my Sim card.  I believe for numerous reasons that the Sim card has never been removed from my phone.  Can someone access this but not physically have possession of the Sim card?

Answer
The only way that this would be possible is if someone had cloned the SIM card number which is pretty difficult to do. It's not impossible, but very difficult. They can tell where the data is coming from. Have you asked them about this? Do you have the Torch tethered to your computer? If so, then that data would all be charged at a per kb rate. I would suggest immediately going to AT&T and getting a new SIM card. They can move your number to a new SIM without issue. If you still have the problem, then it is definitely your data usage. Perhaps the data plan is not on your account for some reason. If you have anything other than a BlackBerry data plan, you will be charged for every single kilobyte. If had, for example, a family data plan and then put the BlackBerry onto the account, you very well would be charged for every kilobyte of data used. Have you verified that you have the $25.00 personal BlackBerry plan? If so, then definitely go get a nwe SIM and that should solve your problem. It wouldn't be possible for the new SIM to be cloned also. As I mentioned, it's been years since this was really possible, so if it happened, it is definitely a fluke. I hope this helps and that you didn't have to pay the charges.
