Cellular Phones/SIM

Question
I have an iphone 4 which uses a mini SIM. I want to switch to a different phone that uses a normal sized SIM. Can I use an old SIM in the new phone and simply have AT&T "activate" the old SIM in this different phone? Or will have have to get out of my contract to get a new SIM?
Thanks!

Answer
If you want to switch to a new phone, you will need AT&T to move your number to a new SIM. They will do this typically without charge and it has nothing to do with your contract. If your SIM is ever damaged or lost or has issues, they will always replace the SIM. Nothing to do with your contract.
