Question Hi,
I hope this is clear enough to generate an answer. So my husband dropped his Motorola i580, and it only works on speaker phone now. I found a Motorola ic602 at a garage sale for a whopping $3.00. It has a sim card (deactivated of course) in it. It powers up and appears to work great, the only problem is.... When I take the sim card (600 contacts) out of his old i580 phone and put it in the "new" ic602 a message saying that the information on the sim card does not match the phone and allows emergency calls only. What are my options here?? Why does the sim not work since they are both SPRINT network and both motorola phones?? What can I do to get the "new phone" to work.
Thanks.
Becca
Answer When you move to a new Nextel phone, you have to contact Sprint/Nextel to let them know the IMEI or ESN number of the new phone because a Nextel phone won't work until the unique ID of the phone is associated with the SIM card. It's not like GSM where you can just swap the SIM card. Sprint/Nextel phones are associated to both the SIM and the device. Just call the and they will assist you in getting your SIM and phone number associated with the new phoen (provided the new phone does actually work which it may not, but you will find out once they associate it). Hope this helps and my apologies for the delay in responding back to you.
