Cellular Phones/Lately I can't receive SMS messages from US to France

Question
Hi,
I live in France.  My cell phone provider is Bouygues. I am subscribed to "Fft Evolutif PRO Classique". I use a Nokia 7230.  I run a B&B here, and one of my booking agents in the US normally alerts me that I have a request by sending me an SMS message.  About 6 weeks ago, I stopped getting these text messages.  I asked a friend in the US to try texting me & it didn't go through, so clearly the problem is here in France.I get texts that are sent in France, but most of my clients are from other countries, so it is important for me to have this working.

I have been to the phone shop twice; the first time they said they reinitialized everything; nothing changed.  Today they changed the SIM card, still doesn't work. Can you suggest any possible reasons for why this is happening, or provide solutions?
Thank you for taking the time to read this, Regards,
Josephine

Answer
I would suggest sending a text to someone in the US and asking them to reply back to your text. They have to have international text capability, but this will tell you if the issue relates to your carrier.  If they can receive and you can receive back from them then the issue is likely that your carrier may have changed their text address and those that have you in their contact list will need to delete you and hen re add you back into their address book.  I hope this helps.
