Cellular Phones/Sprint 8330 BlackBerry

Question
Hi DebiN,
I just purchased an 8330 from a friend. It is not activated currently. I have a Nextel account right now, and I am trying to find out if this Blackberry will work internationally, before I switch over to Sprint and have this phone activated. I see that it runs on the CDMA network...is that a global standard?

Answer
This device will not work internationally. It is a US only device. The global standard is GSM and this device will only work in the US on the CDMA network. If you need a device that works on CDMA in the US and also works abroad, you will need a dual radio device like a BlackBerry Storm or BOLD (the one from Verizon, not AT&T). This device will not work on Nextel either. It's not iDEN capable. Hope this helps.
