Cellular Phones/Name on Cell phone

Question
We changed service to Verizon and received new phones, the numbers however apparently belonged to some other people prior to us.  When we call, the caller ID shows their name instead of ours.  We have called Verizon 4 times and the last time he changed our numbers, but guess what, whoever had those numbers are now showing up on the caller ID.  Verizon told us, we had to go through the land base phone company that gave out those numbers.  Can someone help us please!!!!!!

Answer
The problem you are having doesn't have anything to do with Verizon Wireless. Your name in their system is correct. The problem has to do with YOUR wireline carrier. Your wireline carrier has not yet updated their database with changes for Verizon Wireless and therefore the old name is still displaying. To prove this, call a friend or relative in another city who has a different wireline carrier and ask them to tell you what the caller ID displays. Then, once you see that the caller ID is correct, then contact your wireline carrier and ask them if they can find out how often the caller ID feeds are updated from the wireless carriers so that you will know when your name will be updated. Just remember this, the caller ID is controlled by the company who currently owns the number. Verizon Wireless owns your number. The display is controlled by the company who is showing the display. Your landline carrier is showing the display and if their database has not been updated, the caller ID that they have displays what they had previously. For example, if you had a brand new, never before used number, the caller ID would show "Wireless Number" or something along those lines until the new feed had been received and then it would be updated. Please be patient and don't keep changing your number and just talk to your landline carrier about how often the feeds update. I hope this helps.
