Question
I am with att and upgraded from the 9000 Bold to the Torch 9800. Gave the old 9000 Bold to another att customer but she didn't have a smartphone account. Att locked the old 9000 Bold. Won't even turn on. Is the normal and how do I get the phone to come on?

Thanks

Answer
They haven't necessarily locked the device. What they do is if you put your SIM card into a SmartPhone and you don't have a SmartPhone plan, they will contact you to tell you to add the plan. If you don't, you can't use the phone. The network knows what kind of device you have. If the person you gave the phone to doesn't want to add a SmartPhone plan, she will not be able to use the BOLD. The plan she can get is only $15.00 for 200MB. I'd suggest she agree to that if she wants to use the BlackBerry. If she puts her SIM in another AT&T standard phone, it will work. I hope this helps.
