Cellular Phones/Palm Treo 650

Question
I'm a real estate agent and have been using the Treo lines for about 10 years (600, 650 now 750) my treo 600 and 650 were with the old Cingular service and att called me to inform me that when cingular becomes att my 650 will not work and I would have to upgrade to the new 750 which I have been using for the last 4 years. I still have my old Cingular 650 is there a way now to make the old treo 650 work on the att sim card? I would like to go back using my treo 650 if it can be done.

Answer
The reason you will not be able to use your old 650 is because it is SIM locked to only use the old Cingular SIM card. If you put your current SIM card (which is associated with your phone number and contains all of your account information), into the old Cingular phone, it won't work. You would need to have someone SIM unlock the Treo and then any GSM SIM would work. For the cost of unlocking the device, in my opinion, it's not worth it. And even when you get it unlocked, you would still need to try to program the settings and it is not the best experience. Your choice, of course, but my recommendation is a new device. I used to have Treos also and I know how easy the Palm is. In my opinion, if you want a keyboard, consider going with the BlackBerry Torch which has a great easy experience for business and has a keyboard, touch screen and trackpad - best of all three worlds. The iPhone is excellent unless you really need a keypad and the new Infuse is great too. Just some thoughts.
