Question
QUESTION: My contract with my carrier is about to expire. I am looking for a gsm carrier with NO CONTRACT that will support my iphone! Can you please advise me to providers with competitive pricing?

Thanks so much!

ANSWER: There are no US carriers with GSM networks that will support your iPhone with No Contract. I'm assuming you are with AT&T today. Once your contract expires, you will continue service month to month anyway, so in essence, you will no longer be under contract. No other GSM carriers support a GSM iPhone in the US, so you wouldn't be able to get an iPhone data plan. I hope this helps.

QUESTION: None in the US how about foreign service providers that provide service in the US??

Answer
Elayne -

There aren't any foreign service providers who provide standard rate plans for the US, i.e., you can roam in the US, but only US carriers can provide service in the US and the same with foreign carriers, they can't provide service in the US. If you have an iPhone that you got from a foreign service provider and it is SIM unlocked, you can use it with any carrier who has a GSM network with prepaid service. The trick is that the phone is unlocked. Most of the foreign service providers use GSM technology. There are a couple of exceptions who use CDMA (the non US bands) but the majority use GSM. I'm not familar with the rate plans outside of the US, so my apologies if that is what you are looking for. Thanks.
