Question
I am trying to find the answers to these two questions.  I would appreciate any type of help you can give me.  Thank you.

1. What changes of social structure occurred in
Mexico during the late 19th century?
   A. presidential address
   B. land records
   C. police statistics
   D. price indexes
2. In 1810, Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a
leader of the Mexican independent movement,
  wanted to:
   A. attract international support for movement
   B. promote industrialization for economy
   C. broaden social base for movement
   D. protect class interests of Mexican Creoles

Answer
Hi Lance,
In the late 19th century, there was only one president who ruled from about 1875 on named Porfirio Diaz. One of the issues that brought about his ouster in 1910 was that the peasant class was losing its land to the upper class. One of the ways this happened was to have peasants prove that they owned the land, which most could not do because they had been on it since the days of the Spanish and before. So the gov. basically made up land records to show that someone else owned the land.
The second question I would pick "C" because one of the reasons for the 1810 Revolution was that the lower classes were stuck in their class. There was an official Caste System under Spanish rule that prevented movement based on race, skin color, family, etc.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using AllExperts.com
