Ceramics/Refiring

Question
Hi, I have a complete set of earthware dinnerware which I bought in Brazil when I used to live there.  Unfortunately I'm reluctant to use it because when I put my dishes in the dishwasher some sticky residue shows up all around the edges of the plates even though I don't use the high heat setting on my dishwasher.  So every time I need to rewash them by hand.  They are glazed and it seems that the color which decorates the edges comes through the glaze and it feels very sticky. Is there a way to have those dishes refired? Thanks for you help.

Answer
Dear Leen,
It's hard to know what they used if they were done in Brazil, however they should be able to be refired with success. Look up a potter or glaze your own pottery studio in your town. They should be able to help you out by coating it with a clear. At least they can take a look at what's happening & make recommendations on how to help you fix the problem.
