If I have a ceramic bowl that is cracked from everyday usage is there any way to fix it without taking it to a professional?

There are lots of ways to repair it if you're not going to use it for food again, however if you wish to use it with food that's a different story. Can you tell me a little more information? Do you have a photo? How bad is the crack?
