Question
Miselman Temple Jar?
Miselman Temple Jar?
QUESTION: I would love it if you have any history on this piece or similar pieces from the tagging on it all i can make out is that it might be a "miselman temple jar". Please let me know if that's correct and if so what one was used for. Are they rare?

ANSWER: Dear Shawn,
Do you have a pic of any of the markings on the bottom? Unfortunately, I'm traveling right now & cannot look it up in my books, but will return home on Sunday if you can wait? If not, feel free to write another exper or let me know & I'll try to forward this on.

QUESTION: Unfortunately it didn't occur to me to photograph the bottom originally but hopefully I'll be able to soon (the items are at a friends house) what I do know is that there are markings and one of the words is Meiselman. Thank-you for getting back to me so promptly, I'm in no hurry Sunday would be great!

Answer
Shawn,
Great job. I'll be back home Sunday & do some looking in my books for you. :) Leisha

Shawn,
Meiselman was just the importer. They imported ceramics from around the world, some wre valuable, many were not. 'Temple,' I believe in this case just refers to the shape of the jar. I don't think it is old. I couldn't find anything similar to it antique-wise, but I am not an antique expert. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Leisha
