Why dunting occured only in the shape "S"

Dear Ajit,

Dunting is simply cracks caused from stress when clay is heated up. If you have a piece in the shape of an "S" you have more stretched surface space for the possibility of stress. Clay does have a memory of sorts. If it has been bent or manipulated to create the "S" this will add to the stress on the clay also. How you're drying the piece could impact it also. Slow, slow drying with bagging a piece like this will help. If you can shoot me a photo of the piece I'll try to help more.
