Ceramics/crazing later on down the line

Question
Leisha~

I use Duncan underglazes and glaze.  I don't have a problem with my pieces crazing right away, it is several weeks later that the crazing appears.  What causes this, better ye, what can I do to prevent this?  They are all functional pieces (mugs, tumblers, plates, platters, etc.), I put some of them in the dishwasher, but not all pieces craze.

Thanks for your help,
Stacy

Answer
Stacy,
I often use Duncan underglazes too. They're wonderful. Are the clay, underglazes & glaze all compatible? Are they all being fired to the proper cone? I have found also, that a 'hold' at the end of the firing helps tremendously with this problem.
