Question
hello there,
I recently came upon ceramic molds from a friend.  I have a glass kiln and
tried to slump a piece of glass over it.  the temp. got up to 1400 degrees f..
when i  opened the kiln the mold was cracked and the glass looked dripped
like.
was the temp too high?  what should i do?
thanks so much.

Answer
Christina,
I recently did some experimenting with glass too. I visited my local stain glass shop & learned that different glass melts at different temperatures. I'm not an expert on this (yet) but it does sound like it was too high.

For slumping, what I understand is the ideal degrees is 1200-1300 fahrenheit. For fusing it's more like 1,400-1,500.

I definitely recommend you contact a local glass place near you. Be sure to ask when you purchase glass about the appropriate temperatures. Good luck, Leisha
