Question
I have a cone 6-8 stoneware clay body from James Chappell's book "The Complete Book of Clay and Glazes" that calls for Westko clay #ST-17 pg. 62 creamy/speckled tan stoneware throwing body.  I cannot find this online or any mention of it. Do you know what type of clay this is, or what I could use for a substitute.  Thank you,  Annie

Answer
Annie,
Hm, I'm not sure. I even asked a few potters & my local supplier.
Do you have a local clay supplier? Can you write this author somehow & find out? It's perhaps a local clay near him. There's probably a substitute if you can find out what it is. I'd recommend getting a hold of the author to inquire. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
