Ceramics - Paint chipping off bisque after firing

Expert: Sam Kelly - 10/21/2009

Question

We are having trouble with paint chipping off our bisque once it is fired.  This is a new problem for us.  It happens on poured greenware and cut clay pieces.

Answer
If this is a new problem, first analyse what changes to ANY process have been made, its got to be a recent alteration to what you were doing when there was no problem.
Find some old underglaze(paint is the wrong word, unless you are using house paint), any colour that was being used months ago that worked ok, manufacturers do change thier formulas.
