Question
what causes wheel thrown pottery to warp while drying to a bone dry state?

Answer
dont know for sure,
a guess would be different thickness of clay, if the body thickness varies I guess that shrinkage would differ.
Also if you put your pot on a pourus surface then the clay might stick also warping your bowl.
sorry i am not a potter but i would go for the thickness of the clay as the reason.
