Ceramics - Identifying tile maker

Expert: Leisha Hiester - 2/4/2009

Question
Hi- I purchased these three tiles at an estate sale several years back and I cannot find out who made them. The one upside down is the only one marked. Any help would be appreciated.-Scott

Answer
Scott,
They're wonderful. They look like they may have come from Mexico. Did you purchase them locally? Try to find out who the estate owners were & where their travels took them. Without any signatures or pottery marks you're going to have to play Sherlock.

I once went through this with an estate purchase and found the family to be so helpful. I was able to trace my piece all the way back to Germany & get the year.

If you're more serious you may need to consult an antique expert.

Hope this is helpful. Leisha
