Ceramics - use of vinager in ceramics

Expert: Leisha Hiester - 2/28/2009

Question
I read about using vinegar to do relives in greenware. I tried but did not result OK.  How is the right vinegar and right way of doing it?

Answer
Wilda,
I'm not sure what you mean by 'relives' but i use vinegar in my studio. I actually mix it with some Karo syrup and clay slip, 1/3 equal parts to form a paste. I use the paste to repair broken greenware and sometimes cracks. Is this what you meant? Leisha
