Ceramics/duncan kiln

Question
I just bought an old duncan kiln and the bottom switch didn't work so a friend
wired it all to the top switch. Is this a problem? Why are there two switches when
it's just low, med and high?

Answer
hi Elaine. its possible you have 2 different sets of elements in the kiln have a look and see if there is a visual difference?. A lighter element getting more power than it should will decrease the life of the element. Have a look here, you will see different elements offered.
