Question
I have a new kiln that my husband got me 2yrs ago and can't get the nerve up  to fire it not for sure what to do. I have some cups that I want to glaze but want to paint something on them first. do I glaze first or paint than glaze all at that time

Answer
Hi Ann, If you are using a clear glaze, decorate on the pot, bisque fire, glaze and final fire.

You can decorate straight on a dry but unfired glaze, a brushing medium is recommended to add to the colour so it is easier to apply.

You can decorate on a fired pot by mixing underglaze, same base glaze as on the pot and a brushing medium all at equal parts by volume.
