Question
Hi,  What is the best firing temp for first fire?  Can I use undercoat on the greenware?  Also, can I lay it down to fire, as it may be too tall for my kiln.  Thanks, Diane

Answer
Diane,
It sounds like you have a slip poured piece. Generally molded greenware pieces are low fire bisqued at cone 04 initially. Yes, you can use underglazes on the greenware. It's ok to lay it down to fire as long as there is not too much pressure on a delicate piece like a leg or piece that may crack. Leisha
