Question QUESTION: I have a piece that was made in the 70's that has yellow stains on it. I want to repaint it but need to know what type of paint to use. I have no access to a kiln. I repainted another piece some years ago which had the same stains but I don't remember the type of paint I used. It came out really good. So could you recommend a paint and also tell me what that yellow staining is.

Hmmmm, do you have a picture of the piece showing the stain? Is it on the inside or outside?
There's likely a ceramics shop or studio near you. What city are you in? Most either have a kiln or know someone who does.

QUESTION: No picture as I have already painted over the white part with Ceramcoat. It has a dull finish so obviously it is not the same paint I used before. That had a shiny appearance. Should I apply a glaze? Would that gived it a shiny appearance? The yellow stain is on the whole piece on the outside. It is most noticable on the white part. If it was on the inside I wouldn't worry about it.
I live in Lake Charles, LA and I'm sure there is a kiln somewhere here. I just didn't want to take the time. You see the piece I have is an Easter Bunny and Easter is almost here. I wanted a quick fix. Thanks.

They carry a craft paint for painting on glass. Technically, when you're painting over glaze, glaze is glass. If you can choose a color dark enough to cover the color it should work. Often too, there are people in these stores who can help very much. Take the piece in with you.
