Ceramics/putting ceramic statue outside with elements

Question
I purchased a "Mary" statue from our kids school when it closed. I had put significant time in planning an outdoor "Mary Garden".  When I finally put her outside, she peeled terribly.  She obviously was intended to be an INdoor statue.  I took her to be redone, but I still want to put her outside if possible. The couple that is repairing her have been in the business a lifetime and, I believe, they are in their eighties, so she will be beautiful when she is done, but I still want put her outside.  They strongly recommend I do not!  What do you think?  Thank you for you consideration this matter!

Answer
Julie,
What is she made of? If she is plaster or old chalkware she may very well fall apart again. Where do you live? If the elements are rough and climate variable she may not be able to withstand it.
Lots of ceramic items can be put outside, but they need to be sealed with a strong sealer and brought inside when the weather turns cold. You have to be disciplined about this or you may find her right back in the repair hospital again.
