Question

BRUSH USA MCCOY PINK P
Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me anything about the attached planter/vase. The bottom is marked with the painter's pallet & brushes logo that reads "Brush USA QUALITY" and a large number 716 above it at the top and what looks to me the word "MCCoy" along the bottom edge. Its pink with brown specs inside and out. Measures 5" tall x 8" in diameter. Thank you for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer
Terri,
What you have is a "Brush McCoy" pot.

Brush Mc Coy - George Brush became general manager and shareholder in the J.W. McCoy Pottery Company after losing his pottery to a fire in 1909. In 1911 The J.W. McCoy Pottery Company changed its name to the "Brush-McCoy Pottery Company." The McCoy name and interest in the new company continued until J.W. McCoy's death. Shortly there after the name was again changed, this time to "Brush Pottery Co." in 1925.

The pottery lines and images contained herein are limited to the "Brush-McCoy Pottery Company" only, as "Brush Pottery Co." was no longer a McCoy company. In fact in April of 1910, about the time J.W. McCoy and George Brush were moving towards "Brush-McCoy", J.W. McCoy's son Nelson, together with his father, $5000.00 in cash and the help of shareholders J.B. Owens, G.E. Turner, E.E. Pletcher, Charles Rhinerbarger and Isaac Klinger, formed The Nelson McCoy Sanitary and Stoneware Company.

Most of the early J.W. McCoy pottery, Brush McCoy, was not marked.

Hope this helps. Leisha
