QUESTION: Will a sharpie do or is there one made especially for the task I am doing? Also do I need to bake the frame in the oven or just let it air dry?

Answer
Not quite sure what you mean by 'sharpie'. A permenant marker is like a felt pen that once used to write on something it will not rub off, it requires no heat to set it.
I have seen in craft sores(spot light) a product you can use to write with, then heat up in an ordinary cooking oven to 200degC to set it.
