Question
how long does it need to dry before firing?

Answer
Lissette,
What a pretty name!
Greenware refers to clay items that are "green" or still damp. Wares need to be completely dry of any moisture before firing. This is referred to as "bone-dry." You can tell by the feel of the clay. If you hold the piece to your skin it will feel cold if there is moisture yet inside. Depending upon where you live and the climate, it could take up to a week or moisture to dry up. Other variables may impact drying also, such as thickness of the clay, amount of joints, etc. I have studios in Colorado and Oregon currently. Drying time in Oregon is a week at least, in Colorado, where it is arid dessert; 3 days. Hope this is helpful.
