Ceramics/making changes to ceramic piece

Question
Hello!  I just wondered if there is anyway, after finishing a project if I can make any changes.  See I just started going to a ceramic's class, and I painted a very cute pumkin for the upcoming halloween.  I didn't noticed until I finished it and got it home, that the eyes were not cut out...the nose and the mouth is the only thing that is cut out, and I have a light in the inside of it and I couldn't believe that the eyes weren't cut out.  Is there anyway that I could cut the eyes out without ruining this very cute piece?  If you have any suggestions, I would love it!!
Thank you so much!
Sheri

Answer
Sheri,
You didn't say, but I'm assuming the piece is already fired. You could drill a hole into the eyes area, but it is highly risky. I've done it, but very carefully. First tape the spot & mark it. The tape helps mark it and keeps any chips from happening or flying. Always wear safety glasses. If you visit your local hardware store they should have drill bits that work on tile or ceramic. Bulldog makes a line of them. Hope this helps.
