Question
QUESTION: Mom used to use Africana paints to do the most awesome dry-brushing on highly detailed pieces.  We want to get back into this type of bisque painting, but have been told Africana is out of business.  We have tried to use other brands, but do not get the wonderful soft, layering on of the paint.  Can you suggest another brand we can use both for the translucent and opaque paints?  We are using both Duncan and Macco, but don't like the results!  Help, please!

ANSWER: Dear CE,

I've been asked about Africana so much. It must've been a wonderful product. I saw this online, not sure if she still has, but worth talking to her.

Hope this gets through to you. Read the response you gave someone where you sang the phrases of Africana ceramic paints and stains. What if I told you I have about 300-500 cases (24 count of 2oz jars)? The one I have in front of me right now is Africana Colors Batavia, Ohio/OPAQUE STAINS water base/AO-113Victorian Bittersweet.
Let me know?
Cynthia

I use both Duncan and Mayco too. I don't know what else to tell you to use. I never used Africana. Hope you have luck with this gal.

QUESTION: Thank you, Leisha, for the quick response!  Do you know hot I can contact Cynthia to see if she still has the Africana paints?  Chris

Answer
CE,
Sorry, thought it had contact info attached. After doing some more digging it appears this post is a few years old. She may/may not have some. The email attached was;

charlotte34@verizon.net

It gave me the idea that you could put up a post on Craigslist or similar sites and there may be others around who have these.

Leisha
