Question I have two ceramic figurines which belonged to my grandmother. One is called 'The Paisley Shawl' HNI1392 by Doulton & Co the other I have yet to identify but it has a hand drawn E on the base with a few lines indicating a crown on the top of the E and is of a similar type to the Doulton one if not a little finer. However both are broken. The Doulton one seems to have had something heavy placed on it and has two large cracks across it the other has a historic crude repair. The question I would like to ask is:
Bearing in mind the probable modest value of the two pieces is it worth having them repaired? Or will the value be so diminished by the repair to not make it worth while. I plan on selling the figurines if they are repairable but discarding them if not.
Thank you kindly for your time

Answer Carolyn,
If they have sentimental value, they're definitely worth restoring, but if you're only looking to re-sell, that's another matter entirely.
I am not an antiques expert. I do pottery, clay and ceramics. Here are some sites that may be of help to you;
