I think there are a number of reasons for cracks when refiring, generaly its due to the initial clay and the first firing. You can try check the pieces by picking them up and giving them a rap with your knuckle, if they make a ping then the ceramic piece should have no cracks and if it makes a dull thud noise then there is more than likely a hidden crack or dunt.

thats the body im afraid i dont know enough about glazes to help you on that front
