Ceramics/Paint removal from souvenir mug.

Question
Hi, I don't know much about ceramics.
I was given a couple dozens of personalized mugs with various first names on them. Is there a way to erase the names while keeping the design on the rest of the mug intact? These are the common souvenir mugs.
Your help will be much appreciated.

Answer
It depends on whether the design is a transfer pattern or a painted design. I am guessing transfer, which means if you remove the name you will remove the pattern, sorry. If the design is a painted slip then you could try refiring past the appropriate temp for transfers, that should burn off the transfer, but may leave a mark.

sorry i cant help more
