Question
QUESTION: Hi. I'm thinking about adventuring into making my own individual cups, plates, bowls, teapots, etc. I'm just wondering what are the first basic things that would be required to start this.

I know I would want them to be food-safe, hand washable, dishwasher and microwave safe.

Thank you so much for your help!
Katelyn

ANSWER: Katelyn,
Are you a potter or are you thinking of molded items? There is a big difference and learning curb. I've done both and can advise you on either. Just let me know.

QUESTION: Hi.
I'm going to be making the designs myself so a potter not molded items.

Answer
Katelyn,
How long have you been throwing? If you have the skill to throw functional items, you need only a few basic items to get started. It is more challenging finding customers.

Wheel
Clay
Kiln
220 Electrical set up for kiln
Glazes
Studio space
Shelves
Pottery tools
Sink

I personally have a Giffin Grip for trimming production wares. It saves me lots of time. Your local supplier can be of great help also.

Happy potting, Leisha
