Ceramics/Plaster Mold Question

Question
Hello and thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I acquired a statue
mold and the mold itself is made of plaster. Can you tell me what medium I can
use in this type of mold? Someone told me that if I used plaster inside the
plaster mold it would seal it shut. Again, thank you for any help you can provide.

Answer
hi

you can use either clay pressed into the mould, clay slip or plaster. if you use plaster than you will need to prep the mould with a release agent.

press mould use some wet water clay to cover you mould then when that dries a little use small lumps of clay and press them in.

slip only works if you have proper slip and if your mould is a multiple piece mould then this is the easiest and really the only way to use it.

using plaster is a possibility but its tricky and you may damage your mould.
