Question
Hi Debra,

I'm thinking I might like doing pottery as a hobby, but I have never it done before.  I come from a family of artists but didn't inherit the artistic talent (i.e., drawing and painting).  I love looking at art and do have a good color sense though so I think these could serve me well in pottery.  Would you happen to know of any books on pottery for beginners that you could recommend?  I know that teapots and cups/mugs are things I have in my mind that I'd like to try making.  Also, would I need to use a pottery wheel to create most ceramics pieces?

Answer
I love pottery , you need a wheel unless you want to make flat objects. The wheel makes them round. If you have a colledge around they offer classes, wheels, kilns, the works for a small fee. They have alot of small studios in my area which are great also. I never used a book , hands on is the best. Good Luck!
