Question
hello i took over my aunts ceramic shop after my uncle passed away but he did all the pricing on the greenware and painted pieces and im trying to find out how to price pieces i have looked everywhere i could im the only shop within 50 miles so i cant ask anyone please help thank you

Answer
Hi, pricing is the hardest part. I to inherited trucks of molds. First I got old mold books or new ones. Take the price of the mold and divide by six. Then I charged half of the greenware for firing times two if I glazed fire. That is the way I would do painted pieces also. So a mold is $60.00, greenware would be six, one fire three, cleaning it also three so bisque would be double the greenware. Painted I would charge for the paint plus some labor. Decorative would be a lot more, my time plus a little extra. That is the hardest. Let me know any other questions as I am sure I forgot something.
