Ceramics/Glaze recipe question

Question
Hello,
 I plan to mix my own glazes from recipes that I've gotten from the internet.  My problem is that the recipes have the ingredients in percentages.  When I add the percentages, they add up to more than 100%.  Can you give me any information on this?  Also, the recipes do not state what amount they will make.  Is a five gallon bucket the norm for mixing glazes?

Another recipe that I have, the amount for the ingedients feature just a number, without a percentage.  If it isn't a percentage, is there a norm for that, too?

Answer
Sorry Micheal;
I don't make my own glazs so I can't tell you about percentages or amounts.
For amounts, I guess it would depend on how much need you have for that color glaze.
If you are doing pieces in mass production, then 5 gallons may not be too much, is you are doing hundreds of pieces in the same glaze and they are large pieces.
Sorry I couldn't help more, but if the percentages add up to more than 100%, I would look for another source of information.
