Expert: Peggy - 3/20/2002

Question
I have been dating a girl for a short time. About 4 months now.  She has a history of not being too stable in a relationship.  She has recently moved a couple of hours away in order to furthur her career. I (against my better judgement) have decided to attempt a long distance relationship since there was definately something special between us.

Suddenly, she seems very distant and has gone from talking to me nearly everyday to only once or twice a week.

My question is this.  What are possible causes of someone losing interest, and could this be a sign that she has found someone else?  I do not want to make a hasty accusation that will reflect that I do not trust her. (Not that I trust anything that bleeds for days and doesn't die.)

Hi Will,
One thing that will make a girl lose interest in a guy is if she feels like he is smothering her.  Let her do the calling.  Maybe she isn't really ready to settle into a relationship yet.  Give her space, go out with your friends, and let her do the chasing for awhile.  Women always want what they think they can't have.  The move you
back away, the more she's become interested.  Sounds Crazy,
but that is the way it really is.
