hey Kimmi, I was stoked to see you started your own squad at 22. I am 22 an holding tryouts in April for my first squad! I am excited and nervous. Do you have any advise for me being young and starting this team?

Hi Margeaux,

   Yeah, another young, ambitious coach. I love it! I actually started my first team at 18. It was a competitive school team. I then transitioned and started my all-star team at 22. The biggest advice I can give you is be prepared to make mistakes and have to deal with inexperienced kids. These kids may not only be inexperienced to all-star cheer, but inexperienced to the level of commitment. 2 years into my team, I find myself still being, what I feel, is too accommodating to the kids at times. Be prepared to have things not go as planned and to make occasional decisions on the fly. If you keep a laid back but organized attitude you'll be fine.
