Cheerleading/Walk On

Question
I'm a current high school senior.  I've wrestled and played baseball all my life, and I work out everyday--but I've never cheered. Just  wondering what I would need to do to try and walk on as a male cheerleader in college.

Answer
Hi John Doe :-),

Walking on will depend entirely on the school which you are going to attend. Check out your college's requirements for the cheer squad. Cheering for guys majorly consists of tumbling or stunting. For tumbling you usually need years and years of training, but you could get into a class and see how far you get. You might be a natural. Stunting can be taught alot easier and it consists of being in shape. If you work out every day, then you're already well on the way. I suggest you get into an all-star gym for some stunting clinics. The other thing to work on is know your motions and a cheer or two before tryouts even happen. Good luck to you! Let me know how it goes.
Happy Cheering!
