Question Hi! i have been a cheerleader since i was 4 and now i am 12. One day i was working on two handpsings to a double full, and i was scared to through the double full. so my coach asked me to do round off handpring double full, and when i tried, i freaked out and did a wierd handspring. I hurt my wrist and i went to a hospital. they told me that it was just a sprain. so i wore a brace for a while, and when i was able to tumble again my wrist was hurting really bad! i was doing doubles, and the last couple of the ones that i did i got freaked out! so after a couple of weeks, i went to a different hospital, and they saw a fracture. so i was tumbeling on a fractured wrist and didn't know it. they gave me a brace. when i was able to tumble again, i was very scared and did standing tucks and standing handspring with a spot. i would do two step round off handspring with a spot too. i feel like i have let my team down so much! i feel terrible about it!! so now i am still just doing standing tuck ,handsprings with a spot, and two step roundoff handsprings! and i want help asap!! PLEASE!!
AnswerI know this is not going to be the answer you want to hear but please believe me. This is a problem only you can solve. Unfortunately you are in a sport where injuries can and will happen. I've been hurt alot of times, most cheerleaders have. And the next time you go to do what you got hurt doing before it is always rough. You know you can do the passes because you've done them before. Nothing has changed except your fear. Remember what President Roosevelt said at his inaugural address. "We've got nothing to fear but fear itself". When you can trust yourself that you can still do those passes you will be able to do them again. Good luck.
