Question
QUESTION: hi. my level 2 squad recently switched to level 4.2. and i used to be
a main flyer for my pyramid but then we switched to a harder pyramid
and now i lost my spot for having too long of legs, and i had been
hitting the first and last part and they only let
me try the rewind flip around 4 times before they switched. Why do
you think they did that and why did they put (not to be mean) one of the worst flyers in? thanks

ANSWER: Hi Sydney,
This may be something you need to talk to your coach to. They would probably be able to tell you their reasons for moving you. I don't think that it is because you have too long legs, no one can ever have TOO long of legs! If you really want your spot back, it's never good to be upset and hate on the other girl, just work hard, get your group together, step up and work on that pyramid. Showing your coaches you can do it better is the only way to let them see that you can do it!
I hope this helps!!!

QUESTION: thanks, but as it turns out, the mom of the other girl comlained and threw a big fit about me flying the part and falling on my first few tries and threatned to take her daughter elsewhere and i don't think this is fair but we only have two competitons left so i will just get over it and move on and hope for the best next year. Do you think that is right or why?

Answer
Yeah, cheer moms can do that. Unfortunately, some parents get too involved in their kid's cheer team that they forget that it's their girls cheering, not the mom. It's not right, but many times cheerleading is political. People can threaten to leave just because they don't have a spot they want and that's not right. If it's really upsetting you, talk to your coach and tell them that that's not fair and if you really are better than the other girl, show your coach. If you're thinking that it's not a huge deal, then that's completely fine too and just work on your skills and next year show them what's up!!! But whatever you do, keep your head up and work hard. Good luck!
