Cheerleading/Nutritional needs

Question
My daughter is a 12 year old flyer and underweight already at 73 pounds. She eats moderately but never gains any weight. I am concerned as she has been tumbling 2-3 hours a day and has started to develop a lot of muscles. I don't think she is eating enough protein to sustain this kind of workout. Do you have any suggestions for the levels of protein/carbs she needs to be consuming?

Answer
Hi Stephanie,

I can't make a judgement without seeing your daughter, nor am I qualified to. But, from your description it does sound like your daughter might not be getting the correct amounts of nutritional needs. The best bet would be to see her doctor or contact a nutritionist to develop an eating plan that will sustain her throughout her workouts. This is important so don't let it fall behind. Please let me know how it goes. Good luck.

Happy Cheering,
