Cheerleading/lower-back pain

Question
I am currently going to my all-star cheerleading gym 3 times a week for backhandspring tumbling classes. Although I am getting closer to perfecting this skill without a spotter, I feel like I am being held back by pain in my lower-back. One girl who works at the gym says it may be due to a bad arch in my back during handstands, round-offs, and backhandsprings. Is there any other cause for this that I might be overlooking, or anything that I can do to correct and ease the soreness in my back while I tumble?

Answer
Hi Jessica,

Oh my goodness YES, it could be alot of other things. Never let anyone bedsides a doctor diagnose you with an issue, and never, ever, ever ignore pain. You need to get to a doctor or physical therapist soon. If it is an injury that is holding you back, you need to know now before you do yourself more harm. Good luck to you. Please, please let me know how it goes.

Happy Cheering,
