Question
Hi :)
I'm a JV cheerleader at school and I have a few questions -
How is cheerleading related to aerobics? Right now, cheerleading season's over but I can't attend the off-season practices for the try-outs coming up because of soccer season. I feel so...stiff and unprepared. Do you think it'll help if I attend the aerobics classes at a nearby sports center? Also, I think my toe touches are getting lower! :( What should I do?
Thank you so much.

Answer
Hey Diana,

Cheer is similar to aerobics. They both get your heart rate up and moving. The difference with cheer is that it focuses alot more on flexibility than aerobics does. If you're looking for something to do in the off season to stay in shape, soccer should be doing all the aerobics you need. So just add in something to help with the flexibility. Yoga or pilates is great at that. And you can take a class at a center, or get a dvd or book and do it at home.

If you're toe touches are getting lower, its probably because you're losing core muscles in the off season. (soccer doesnt really use them) Add in some crunches, or v-ups every day and in no time, your jumps will be back better than ever!

Happy Cheering,
